T-Minus three days ago one of our stationed local artists here at bottlerag dot org, Mallory Graham, released their second single Mallard.
First off, absolutely killer guitar solo nearing the end of the track, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
“…the song itself, lyrically, is written for the ducks, because the first thing you hear in the song is the riff and that riff. I was just playing in my backyard before a shift.”
Mallory shares with her Instagram following the story behind the song here.
“I call myself a surf rock artist, but it isn’t really just that there’s twinges of indie rock, little bits of punk; leaning a bit into the singer-songwriter side of stuff, too.”
Mallory talks about the single “I took a lot of influence from Mac DeMarco and the funk scales that vulfpeck uses and kind of fuzed those two ideas and then gave it a surf drum beat.”
I think a lesson we can take away from Mal here is that maybe it’s not just the ducks that we shouldn’t be feeding bread to. It could be ourselves, and that maybe we’d have a better time sowing some seeds of the future instead of stuffing our gullets with bounds metaphorical anti-communist bread rolls.
Based in Fort Collins CO. they have a show on February 1st at Swing Station playing with Rat Von Rat, and The Athletics!
We got the inside-bottlerag-exclusive scoop with this next tidbit. We got word from Mallory herself that the album release party will be on March 22nd at Mishawaka Amphitheatre.
Also, be on the look out for their artist playlists a future one title Gallery La Mallory will feature all of the tracks they have worked on!
