“Dirty girls” a short documentary about a group of 8th grade girls who were rebellious, anxious, and disallusion by the society they found themselves in. Taking place in 1996, it gives a raw and authentic look into the minds and schemes of the girls of the time. I mean they published a zine for Christ’s sake. Very cool. Very bottlerag. Very much worth your time (~18mins).

An intriguing and insightful watch. If you watch just the first half you might be convinced that the preppy girls are right to have dawned them the name of “dirty girls” but if you stay to watch the whole thing you’ll learn there is a lot more going on beneath the surface.
The same documentarian produced a follow up some odd years later talking about the impact the lifestyle and their messaging had on them.
