Show Notes
Hollow Ship – Magic Mountain
Show Intro!
Today’s show is pretty chill, I was not here last week due to some other stuff I had going on but I am back now! Most of today’s music is from my discover weekly, which can get quite weird cause of the weird and whacky instruments stuff but this time I got some solid gems that you will be sure to enjoy!
Land Of Valen – Don’t Forget Your Gun
HUNNY – Cry For Me
Levi Roth – Cowboy Belt
Dexter and The Moonrocks – Sarahtonin
Traffic!
General road speeds in the usual pain points this morning seem a bit faster than normal, but let’s me honest that’ll only really save you a couple minutes.
Big events today:
I-70 westbound left lane closed due to a crash. According to bottlerag radio traffic cams it seems to be caused by a smaller sedan and a semi.
Stay safe, enjoy your commute, and don’t forget you can email us staff@bottlerag.org for song requests, and you can, if you’re a passenger, share some live updates from the road about your commute.
Uncle Strut – Love
moondoggy – Passport
Capital Soiree – keep it in the dark
thebandfriday- Take Flight
News!
Independent or more niche or smaller films are hard to come by in theatres in Denver, and Colorado as a whole. This article shares why this is the case; essentially colorado is known as a “C Market” whereas places like LA, New York, and Chicago are known as “A Markets.” A Markets are determined to be places where there is a high likelihood of people going out and watching more movies. Basically we just don’t have as much traffic for that in Colorado. Some is due to post covid vibes of not wanting to be with large groups, other reasons come from companies like Netflix who actively want to stop movie theatres from existing.
I used to work in a theatre and mine was quite large with 14 screens. Large companies like AMC, Cinemark, and even the theatre I worked at get these niche films in Colorado, however, they aren’t advertised at all. They are just there to fill screens and only really last a week or two.
Some places like Landmark Theatres and the Alamo Drafthouse do feature and advertise these movies, however, they are still run by corporations. This article highlights the Sie Film Center which is ran by Denver Film which is a nonprofit. I will definitely be going as I am a movie fan and want to see more movies without feeling like my only options are the big blockbusters.
Army Times Article: Army tests robotic coyotes to defend fighter jets
So essentially what happens here is animals can cause problems with aircraft launches cause they could either damage the planes or harm the lives of people onboard, or both.
Essentially they invented scarecrows by using fake coyotes on wheels. Some other places are putting tracking devices on coyotes and even do prairie dog mapping. This is all to measure “bird strike intensity levels”
Of course they don’t call the scarecrows, they’re “a new way of deploying unmanned and autonomous technology that could benefit civil infrastructure authorities as well as the military.”
Tele screens – Phone Booth
Friend Operation – Portrayal
Tide Rider – Complacency
Foals – Mountain at My Gates
